High School’s Thrive

Thrive is our Wednesday night experience for High Schoolers.  The name “Thrive” comes from Proverbs 11:28 (NIV), “Those who trust in their riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf.”  That’s what we desire for our students.  We don’t want them to lean on their own knowledge or power.  If they do, it will constantly fail them.  We want them to rely on the knowledge and power of the Holy Spirit so that in life, they will THRIVE.

Thrive will happen on a three-week rotation.  The first Wednesday looks like a typical student worship service.  There will be a game, musical worship, and Biblical teaching.  The second Wednesday will have musical worship, and teenagers will break into student-led table groups.  Unlike Sundays, these groups are not assigned.  These groups will discuss how to apply the lesson from our teaching time on the first Wednesday.  The third week of the rotation will be a service night.  We’ll get together and hang out while doing a service project in-house.  This could be putting together goody bags for a particular group of people, bringing supplies to provide for the needy in our surrounding communities, serving in different ministries in our church, etc.  This rotation also mirrors our strategy as a church for our members to be involved in worship, groups, and service while abiding in Christ.
