Christmas Events

Advent

Join the Broadmoor family as we celebrate Advent beginning Sunday, November 27.

What is Advent? The Advent season includes the four Sundays leading up to Christmas and begins this year on Sunday, November 28. It’s a time of expectancy and preparation for the celebration of Jesus’ birth.

What is the Broadmoor family doing? We will be going through the BibleProject’s Advent Reflections devotional. This four-week plan incorporates animated videos, short summaries, and reflective questions to help participants explore the biblical meaning of hope, peace, joy, and love.

How do I join Advent at Broadmoor? We recommend using the Bible app to follow along this Advent season. You can find it in the app store for your device. After downloading the app and opening it, add Broadmoor as your church family. You can do this by tapping the Discover magnifying glass on the menu at the bottom and typing “Broadmoor” in the search. When you see the Broadmoor icon, tap on it and select as your church. At the bottom of Broadmoor’s page is the current devotion we are walking through. On November 27, this plan will update to our Advent Reflections devotion, and you can follow along.

If you are already a part of our Bible Reading Plan text, you will begin to receive the passages for each day through a daily text. If you want to be a part of the Bible Reading Plan, text BIBLE to 32373.

There will also be printed weekly guides in the Advent stations around campus for you to pick up and follow along if you prefer.

Regardless of how you join in, get involved with Advent at Broadmoor this year. Don’t forget to share your journey with us on social media by tagging @mybroadmoor and using the hashtag #christmasatbroadmoor.

Give

Many folks are looking for opportunities to give this Christmas season. If that is you, we encourage you to give to one of these three areas this year as you give cheerfully.

Lottie Moon Christmas Offering
The Lottie Moon Christmas Offering (LMCO) goes directly to missionaries serving around the world through the International Mission Board (IMB). These funds help offset ministry needs that regular funding do not cover.

The Shelter Initiative
The Shelter Initiative is Broadmoor’s response to ministering to those involved in foster care, adoption, unexpected pregnancies, or walking through a post-abortion journey. These funds go to help support these key areas as we run to the hurting.

Year End Giving
Many of the areas Broadmoor ministers to on a daily basis come from the ministry budget. Missions support, ministry resources, and operational expenses are all areas that depend on the ministry budget dollars. Did you know almost 25% of the church’s ministry budget comes in the months of November and December? As we end 2022 and look to 2023, we want to finish strong to give and resource even more in the coming year. Your year end giving makes that possible.

Activities

White Envelope Project

Broadmoor’s Kids Ministry is excited to have the White Envelope Project back for 2022! This is a great opportunity for kids to use their “seed money” to be creative in ways to grow it. Maybe it’s raking leaves, washing cars, or walking dogs! Whatever it is, be sure to ask a Broadmoor Kids member what you can do to help support the White Envelope Project this Christmas season.

Lottie Moon Post Office

Send your Christmas Cards through the Lottie Moon Post Office. Donate the money you would pay for postage to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering and transform lives today. The Post Office will open November 20th. Please address cards with the recipient’s first and last name. USPS Stamps currently are .60 cents each. Check the mailbox each Sunday for your own Christmas cards. And be sure to tag donations as “Lottie Moon Post Office”, either on checks or on the giving page. The Post Office will close January 4, 2023 so cards will be available in the church office after January 5, 2023.
