ROB FUTRAL

PASTOR

RFUTRAL@BROADMOOR.ORG

My story is shaped by two major factors, my faith and my family. I accepted Jesus Christ as Savior at 12 years of age and began learning about all that it means to follow Him as the Lord of my life. At 15 I surrendered my life to ministry. Today that seems like a young age to make such an important decision but God has confirmed his calling in my life time after time. I am still overwhelmed that God would love me enough to send His Son for me and that I have the privilege to serve Him in His church.

My family is a huge part of my life. I was blessed to grow up in a home with parents who love the Lord and two super sisters. My dad (a pastor for many years and now the Executive Director/Treasurer of the Mississippi Baptist Convention) and mom continue to have a profound impact on my life. They continue to model what it means to be a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ.

GARY MAZE

ASSOCIATE PASTOR

GMAZE@BROADMOOR.ORG

I grew up in a home that didn't attend church regularly. I did attend a small number of Sunday school classes as an elementary-aged child, but virtually no worship services or children's activities. God used my best friend and the invitation from his Sunday School teacher to bring me to First Baptist Church of Columbus Mississippi.

There I trusted Christ, saw my younger sister come to Christ and began my pursuit of Christ in discipleship. I experienced a tremendous depth of encouragement and grace through these years. A Godly family at FBC Columbus helped send me to Mississippi College. I came to college after having strong leadership positions in High School. My plan was to go to Law School and build a lucrative practice. My heart and mind changed while at Mississippi College as did my major. I experienced God's clearly miraculous provision and direction as I graduated from college and began a traveling ministry which required my twenty four hour day leadership for twelve young adults. A hundred thousand miles and four hundred concerts later, this chapter of my life closed.

JOHN BUTTERFIELD

EQUIPPING PASTOR

JBUTTERFIELD@BROADMOOR.ORG

I grew up in a Christian home and trusted Christ at the age of seven at the First Baptist Church of Sonora, Texas. After third grade, my family moved to Hobbs, New Mexico, where I graduated from High School. I had been sensing God leading me toward a career in ministry for some time and struggled greatly with that decision. As a Junior at New Mexico State University, through the influence of the Baptist Student Ministry, I recognized that God’s plan was the best plan and accepted His calling for my life. About the same time, I met my wife Janet, who also felt a very strong calling to ministry, and has been a partner, supporter, and friend in every way. Our journey has been exciting and fulfilling as we have seen God lead us, teach us, challenge us, and provide for us.

I am passionate about the church of Jesus Christ. As Christians, we are a part of a movement and a community that reflects the nature and character of Christ. I believe that the potential for the church is immeasurable, and that, as a body, we can find real fulfillment as we worship, grow, and serve together.

TATE COCKRELL

FAMILY PASTOR

TCOCKRELL@BROADMOOR.ORG

I became a Christian when I was 16 years old at Salem Heights Baptist Church in Laurel, Mississippi. My parents became Christians later in life and were instrumental in my decision to follow Christ. God called me to ministry about six months later. It was a decision that I wrestled with for a couple of months. While attending a youth camp at Ridgecrest, North Carolina I sensed the leading of the Lord so strongly, that I knew I had no other choice than to become a minister.

I didn’t know exactly what it was that God was calling me to do. I initially thought He was calling me to be a preacher/pastor. But, after two years of college, He redefined my calling to study counseling and work with hurting people. He used the death of my brother when I was 15 to help shape that calling while I was in college and Seminary, as I healed from the tragic loss.

ROWLAND HALL

COMMUNITY IMPACT PASTOR

RHALL@BROADMOOR.ORG

There is no doubt that God’s loving hand has been on me throughout my entire life. I was blessed to grow up in a home where both of my parents and each of my four older brothers and sisters had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Several members of my family were in vocational ministry and I was determined that this would not be the casefor me. I decided during my teen years that I was going to be the “successful” member of the family and that I would serve the Lord by being the best businessman that I could. However, my definition of success was based on theworld’s perspective rather than the Lord’s.

KENDALL MOORE

EXECUTIVE ASSOCIATE

KENDALL.MOORE@USAVE.COM

I accepted Christ at the age of 12 in 1975 at the Billy Graham Crusade in Jackson. I remember it vividly. My folks had divorced when I was five, and my mom had remarried my step-dad, Bob Holleman. His mother, Ruth Holleman, had taught Sunday School at Calvary Baptist Church forever. Calvary became my home, and Joe Tuten became my pastor.

By the time that I was in High School, I had learned that trying to excel to make other people happy just didn't work. Then I tried doing things just for me. That didn't satisfy, either. In my Junior year, I locked in to Colossians 3:23, and I got really serious about my faith. Trying to please God became a passion, and it changed my life.
