HARVEY ELLIS

MEMBERSHIP PASTOR

HGELLIS@BROADMOOR.ORG

I was blessed to grow up in one of the most incredible families, and to make it even better, my dad was a Pastor.  That’s right…my dad was a pastor in a small town, my mom was a teacher, and I had an older sister and a younger brother to keep me in line.  There was great accountability growing up in Noxapater, MS and at the young age of 8, I asked Jesus to come into my life and to be my Lord and Savior…WOW!  That happened many years ago and I am so grateful for all that He has done in those years and for what HE continues to want to do in my life.

In high school, I played sports and learned the importance of doing my best, being a part of a team, and learning new skills.  I then went to Mississippi College and wanted to do anything but go into any type of ministry.  I was on the tennis team, very active in school activies and the SGA, and all the while, God continued to show me in simple ways that his calling in my life was ministry.  I then went to New Orleans to go to seminary and my world changed and I was challenged by new friends and great professors, as God continued to lead.

I served a church in Louisiana while in seminary, went to Georgia after that, and then came back to Clinton, MS, as the Student Minister at FBC.  Ministry was great there and God also brought Sonji into my life and after 3 years of dating, she became my wife in March of 1995.  What a blessing she has been…  We have been blessed with two incredible children, Dailee who will be 9 in a few months and Walker who just turned 7.  They encourage and challenge me daily in my walk with Christ, and I am so thankful for them.

Coming to Broadmoor has been a great experience and opportunity for me.  I love the area of ministry that I am privileged to do here—Membership Ministry.  God has brought some wonderful people in my life here and I look forward to what each day holds as God allows me to meet new members and guests, as well as get to know our currrent members and work with them on our Frontline Teams.
