Camp Broadmoor Blog: Day 3

Hey everyone!  Day three was great here at Camp Broadmoor.  Morning celebration kicked us off with a fun song about the fruits of the spirit.  After morning celebration, we split up into Recreation groups.  7th and 10th graders had the Low Ropes Course today, which was mostly team building exercises.  These included getting teammates over a wall, keeping a ball in the air, getting in order of birthdays without talking, having every teammate stand on a wood box without falling off, and much more.  Below is a video of the groups at the course today.

There is also a separate video of what was referred to as "The Box."  It seemed to take both the 7th and 10th graders a long time to complete.  So, on the video they are shown doing the challenge at 3x the actual speed. We also had the yearly adults vs. students Ultimate Frisbee match.  With a 9-6 lead, the students' offense turned cold and the adults came back and won 10-9!

At evening worship, God really showed Himself and moved in the place. We talked about Samson and how when he's first introduced in Judges 13, it seems like everything is going to be great.  But then in Chapter 14, things begin to go downhill.  Blake Newsom, the Camp Pastor, got the point across of how we can have so much potential at a point in our lives, and then just mess it all up and be a huge letdown.  This broke a lot of the students and a time of confession to place.  Tears flowed down the cheeks of different students.  It was a very intimate time.

Also, it was "Senior Night" at camp.  The Seniors explained their painting on the 3rd floor and also gave sound advice to all the younger kids.  It ended with the Seniors passing the Senior cross to the Junior class, symbolizing them having to carry the weight of being the leaders of the youth group.  As students left evening worship, they headed to campfire time.  God also moved here as two 8th grade guys surrendered their lives to Christ.

It's been a great week so far and as we head into our last day we ask that you pray for this day and that the lives of our students will be changed by the encountering of the Holy Spirit.  Thanks for your prayers already and we'll be home soon!  Here are the videos for Day 3.  Hope you enjoy them!

Camp Broadmoor Blog: Day 2

Day of Camp Broadmoor was awesome!  After a great quiet time, our students kicked off with Morning Celebration, where they had the privilege of worshiping God through song and hearing Him speak through Camp speaker, Blake Newsom.

After the morning session, students split up and went into Recreation groups.  Our 7th and 10th graders got to attend the high ropes course.  There, they were able to climb an amazingly high rock wall, swing on a rope swing that dropped them down a huge distance, and fly down a
"super long" and "super high" zipline. All the students had a blast!

They were also able to attend the water park on site.  They had speed slides, a water rock wall, and a wavepool/lazy river.  It was a lot of fun for all of the students as you'll see in the video below.  After dinner, students had evening worship time where God moved in the hearts of many.  We believe this to be only the beginning of what God has in store for us here at Horn's Creek.  Continue to pray for the students and leaders on this trip.  Pray that the Spirit of God will move in this camp.  Thanks in advance! Enjoy the videos!

Camp Broadmoor Blog: Day 1

DAY 1

We made it to the camp around 3:30 pm yesterday.  The 4AM wake up call to get to the church made everyone exhausted because they all seemed to fall asleep easily that night.  We had worship last night and it was awesome!

We also had a time called "The Fire", but there was no fire.  Luckily, the students preferred that due to the heat.  Before everyone headed into their cabins, we had an awesome light show in the sky.  Heat lightning was flashing constantly and it was beautiful.  It's amazing to see the things that God creates that are usually seen as bad, be used for awesome works.  The students are pumped about today. Our next post will cover all of the day's activities.

In the meantime, check out this video from Day 1.  At the end there are some students talking about what they want to get out of Camp Broadmoor.  Hope you don't miss us too much, as we will be back soon!  Keep us in your prayers and pray that the Spirit will fall upon this place and do amazing things in the lives of our students and leaders. See you tomorrow!
