GARY MAZE
ASSOCIATE PASTOR
GMAZE@BROADMOOR.ORG
I grew up in a home that didn't attend church regularly. I did attend a small
number of Sunday school classes as an elementary-aged child, but virtually no
worship services or children's activities. God used my best friend and
the invitation from his Sunday School teacher to bring me to First
Baptist Church of Columbus Mississippi.
There I trusted Christ,
saw my younger sister come to Christ and began my pursuit of Christ in
discipleship. I experienced a tremendous depth of encouragement and
grace through these years. A Godly family at FBC Columbus helped send
me to Mississippi College. I came to college after having strong
leadership positions in High School. My plan was to go to Law School
and build a lucrative practice. My heart and mind changed while at
Mississippi College as did my major. I experienced God's clearly
miraculous provision and direction as I graduated from college and
began a traveling ministry which required my twenty four hour day
leadership for twelve young adults. A hundred thousand miles and four
hundred concerts later, this chapter of my life closed.
The next
major chapter opened with my marriage to Kathy and my calling to full
time ministry at Woodland Hills Baptist Church. Though some of my
career path has been a bit unconventional, I have been richly blessed
by the many opportunities that God has brought my way. Thirty years of
ministry in the Jackson area, has brought a richness of relationships
and a cumulative ministry for which I am deeply grateful. I am
surprised and delighted that God has led me to Broadmoor to serve in
this season of my life.
I have been committed for a number of
years to editing my life so that I might be increasingly effective. The
opportunity to serve as Associate Pastor places me in a terrific
position to be a Coach, Communicator, Catalyst for Ministries, and a
Creative Presence on a world class staff. It doesn't get any better
than this.
